The First World Innovation Summit for Education at Qatar


HH Sheikha Mozah on World Innovation Summit for Education
Qatar :

Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bin Nasser al Misnad was opened first World Innovation Summit for Education by Qatar Foundation on 16 November 2009 at Ritz Carlton.

Around 1,000 educators, decision makers and opinion leaders from 120 countries of the globe are attending the meet.

The three days summit was focused on present-day issues and future challenges in three areas of pluralism, sustainability, and innovation in education with participants taking up these issues in a series of plenary and breakout sessions.

"It was everyone's responsibility to support the cause of education. I do not make a distinction between the powerful and the weak, nor between the developed and less developed; everybody is responsible and it's everyone's duty to raise the level of education" said HH Sheikha Mozah. 


Director General UNESCO Irina Bukova, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, and Dr. Abdullah bin Ali al Thani, Chairman of WISE and Vice-President of  Education in Qatar Foundation also addressed the gathering. "Education is the backbone of the new knowledge based human era and we have a joint responsibility when it comes to promoting human enrichment, " said Bokova.

Dr. Abdullah Ali al Thani said "Rapid growth of educational institutions in the country has paved the way for political, social economic and environmental changes and improvements in all spheres of life in the country".


The important topics that were discussed during the day where pluralism, globalization of education, preparing students for a global economy and Society, bridging of global inequalities, higher education for a sustainable world, innovation technology, e-learning and many more.
